Meet Eden Prairie’s first Somali police officer

The Twin Cities has the largest Somali community outside of Somalia, and Eden Prairie has third largest Somali population in the metro area, next to Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Mohamoud Ibrahim became the latest to be sworn in to Eden Prairie police department.

On Thursday, November 16, 2017 officer Mohamoud Ibrahim with the Eden Prairie Police Department was sworn-in as the department first Somali Police Officer.

According to the Somali American Police Association Facebook page, Mohamoud Ibrahim is the first sworn in Somali officer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

“On behalf of SAPA, we would like to congratulate him and wish him luck on his career in Law Enforcement. We’re also looking forward working with the Eden Prairie Police Department and its community” said Mohammed Farah the current president of SAPA.

Officer Mukhtar Abdulkadir from the Minneapolis Police Department awarded Mohamoud Ibrahim his badge.

Mohamoud Ibrahim, not only is the first Somali American officer in Eden Prairie, but he is also the first to be hired in that city.
