HOW TO HAVE FUN IN A CIVIL WAR

Somali writer and performer Ifrah Mansour brings her wonderful piece How to Have Fun in a Civil War to the Children’s Theatre Company this weekend. The production, directed by Lindsey Cacich, revisits Mansour’s childhood memories of the 1991 Somali Civil War, the story about telling the story of that conflict through the eyes of a seven-year-old child. Mansour and her support team interviewed 15 Somali community members as research for the piece, which she presented earlier this year at the Minnesota State Fair. Mansour often brings a sense of humor and whimsy to her work, deftly handling hard topics with a great deal of hope.
